Secondly, I hope to raise your interest in reading the book. I risk eluding some key notions and I want to be as precise as possible. Firstly because there is a lot to tackle in this work and I’ll make no pretension to summarize a 400-page book. In this article, I give you an insight into Plato’s thinking and a brief overview of his ideas. In The Republic I have read ideas that are still relevant today, if you open your eyes and look closely. ![]() However, my own experience is completely contrary. To cut a long story short, Plato’s works seem abstract, irrelevant and….boring. Plato evokes maybe old memories of painful philosophy classes, an old teacher crazy about their subject and trying to explain you a vague concept full of nonsense or irrelevant to you or maybe you even had no idea why you were present in class that day. Reading The Republic by Platon may sound weird and worthless when you ask people. ![]()
